Update on our Life!

Christmas Blessings to each of you from the Plattners.  It's been awhile since we did a blog post, so here's an update with lots of pictures to share with you!

Brenna and her friend Chloe trying on hats.

We had an early Thanksgiving dinner with a few families  in Cayes. We played games and swam in their pool all afternoon before supper.

This is Galens, a little haitian boy that slept on our porch while it rained one day.

One saturday we took a 4 hour gator ride to the north coast of the southern peninsula. It was very pretty.

This is Godson. He helps in our yard every week. He is 15 and took us to show us his house one day.
It was fun.

We invited the pastor of our haitian church, and his wife and two kids to supper.

Reggie and Jared went out on fourwheelers one afternoon.

Our dear friends Barry and Joyce came and visited us for two weeks and brought us so much encouragement and served us selflessly.

Barry, Hadley, and I redid the tin on our storage building.

Joyce and mom made doughnuts once.

We got some good pictures of cloudy mountains.

We took a one hour gator ride one afternoon  around a little loop.

We went to a place called Renault where some missionaries teach a sunday school class with about 1,000 haitian kids.

We went to the beach and afterward went to a fancy restaurant with an awesome view of the ocean.
After supper we hiked the peninsula.

We invited the two interns, Kirk and Leah, for supper one night

Our class for school built this dollhouse to sell at the Hospital Lumiere auction. It sold for $500.

Joyce planned a cast party for before our play that we were doing at School. Our play was "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" a full Broadway musical with 14 songs and a 70 page script. I was Charlie Brown, Hadley was Schroeder, and Brenna was Sally.

We went on a weekend retreat to a place called Coby Beach.
It had a pool and air conditioning.

We had a Thanksgiving with the extended missionary family.

Last Saturday We went on a 8 mile hike to a huge waterfall.
It was about 75 feet high.

ANTS! ANTS!
Yesterday morning mom opened the door to the pantry and there were ants in the sugar and all over the pantry. Today they were still in the pantry!

Yesterday was Brenna's birthday. We had a missionary family over for a pizza party for her birthday.

Happy Fall

By: Toby

In Haiti you can't really tell that it has changed seasons!  Other than getting some rain, it stills feels like summertime here (hot, hot, hot!).

Our Haitian cook's 4 year old son, Immanuel, enjoyed jumping on our trampoline

It's a wonder the way they pack a truck in Haiti, overflowing with sacks and barrels.

This is a baseball card tower I made. It is made from about 600 baseball cards.

This is about the best clearing for us to play baseball on by our house.

Leah Bertschi got here Sunday to help teach at the school.  We are excited to have her here!

This is the girls Sunday school class.

Sometimes the kids go sledding on the guest house hill on palm leaves.

We enjoyed playing baseball at a soccer field a little ways up the road one sunday after church!

Mom got some new Haitian artwork in Les Cayes to brighten up our living room.

One of mom's friends had a baby named Nieduh

Sometimes the adults play instruments on Sunday afternoons.

Dad is the security guard boss and mom got cuffed by this guard for training.

Hadley got a hospital gurney (that was thrown out for garbage) and pretended it was an airplane. The Hartzler's enjoyed  trying it out with us.  It never did fly, but it was fun!

The Hartzler's moved back to the United States early September. We had a surprise party for the kids before they left.

Dad's cousin Fred was here last week with the awareness team.

This is the view from the restaurant mom and dad went to for their anniversary.

This is them at the Restaurant.  16 years together!
