Where we've been lately...

The last few weeks of summer break were full of many
experiences and good memories.  We just wanted to share
a few more of our favorite pictures from Haiti and some other
stops we've made along the way!
Sunday afternoon on Rainbow Beach in Haiti
Reg and Toby enjoying their own bottles of Coke
after riding the waves all afternoon!
Grocery shopping in Cayes.  I was taking mental
pictures, so I can remember what will be available
when we live there.  Figuring out Haitian dollars and
Goudes (sp?) will be my big challenge!  On the
shelf behind me are big cans of powdered milk
which will be our main milk source!  That might
                                          take some getting used to!
The busy streets of Cayes (about 45 min. from where
we will live.)
We were impressed with the creativity of this young
Haitian!  A car made out of a water bottle!
Kurt and I slept with 3 fans on us.... box fan, oscillating fan and
a ceiling fan!  And this is coming from a girl who is normally
cold!

After 5 days in Haiti we flew back to Florida and spent 5 days vacationing.  It was a wonderful time of relaxing and renewing before heading home.  We enjoyed a charter fishing trip, some beach time, and lots of swimming in the pool.  We rented a house through airbnb (kinda like vrbo) with a private pool out the back door!  It ended up being just right for our family!  Great memories!
Reggie caught a Grouper.
                                                               Toby caught a shark!
And Mom caught the biggest fish of all! A 10 lb. 22 1/2 in. Grouper!
Was it talent or luck?  I'll let you decide:)

These were all the keepers.  A bunch of Red Snapper and one big Grouper!

As if catching them wasn't enough, we also got to eat them for supper that
night!  Kurt is trying to contain his excitement (will you hurry up and take
the picture so I can eat this stuff?)!!
Hadley and Brenna are posing with some shells they
found.  That's the pool that we made very good use of!

The weekend after we returned from the South, we were invited to some friends' house from Taylor, Missouri.  We really enjoyed our time there, and we were treated like kings and queens!  Great memories and precious friendship!

So, do you think any of our boys will reach the height of the Haerr boys?

Arrival in Haiti with kids

As many of you know, we have felt God leading our family to move to Hospital Lumiere in Bonne Finn, Haiti where Kurt will be working as Director of Operations!  We really appreciate the many who are praying for us as we step out in faith!  We know we are not alone for "we are laborers together with God."  1 Cor. 3:9

On Aug. 2, we took all four of our kids to Haiti to get a glimpse of the culture, see where we will  live, and meet the missionary families we will be living near.  We are very glad to have had this opportunity.  We have already learned a lot, and we know we have so much more to learn!  We hope you enjoy a few pictures of the 5 days we spent there!

Stepping off the plane in Port au Prince.

 Port au Prince airport

Riding on top of the Toyota on the bumpy road to the Hospital.

Reggie exploring all the trees in our yard including sour orange, avocado, mango, bamboo and palms.

Yep, you guessed it, a tarantula in our bathroom (shudder!)!!!!!

A glimpse of our little house.
